Welcome toSteinbach! I would like to extend the warmest greetings to you as you explore and discover why our city is a great place to call home. Steinbach is the ideal place to live with its strong sense of community and unmistakable generous people. Add this to our beautiful parks, bustling arts and culture scene, strong business community, and welcoming neighbourhoods, it’s no wonder we are the third largest and one of the fastest growing communities in the province. While you are here, I hope you have an opportunity to shop for treasures in our stores, enjoy a delicious meal at one of our many restaurants, and visit some of our wonderful attractions including the Mennonite Heritage Village Museum, Steinbach Aquatic Centre, K.R. Barkman Park, and the stunning brand-new Southeast Event Centre.

Steinbach also hosts some fantastic annual events, fun for the whole family, including Summer in the City Festival, Pioneer Days, and Canada Day Celebration. Steinbach – something for everyone! WELCOME!

Founded in 1874 by Mennonite families, Steinbach was built on hard work and dedication, with strong roots in agriculture. This bustling city is the hub of Southeast Manitoba, with business, industry, agriculture, education and a wide variety of activities for tourists to explore. The city is proud of its history! The world class Mennonite Heritage Village is an example of this, and demonstrates a traditional way of life that was part of the area during the early 1900s. Step back in time. Experience an array of events, celebrations and exhibits at the Mennonite Heritage Village year-round. Locally crafted items are featured in their gift shop and you can find traditional Mennonite food on the menu at the Livery Barn Restaurant.

If you like to golf, you won’t want to miss The Links at Quarry Oaks. Just a few miles north of Steinbach, Quarry Oaks is one of the top 20 public courses in Canada! The Steinbach Fly-in Golf Course is another 18-hole course with a beautiful pro shop and restaurant located adjacent to the local airport. For those who love to swim, there is the Steinbach Aquatic Centre. This brightly lit and beautiful facility offers over 24,000 sq. ft. of fun, including a junior Olympic pool (6 lanes), 2 water slides, a 1 meter diving board, a leisure pool, lazy river, feature sprays, children’s water play area, sauna, hot tub and a multi-purpose room. Concession machines are available for snacks and beverages. The outdoor area includes a pool, deck area and splash park! The Quarry Park offers a skateboard park on Lumber Ave. and First St., which features a half pipe, a mini half pipe, three grind boxes, a box jump with a hubba, a 12-foot quarter pipe and a four-foot spine! The park is run by Youth For Christ and offers some supervision times. Other recreation areas include ball parks, soccer fields and several kilometers of cycling and walking paths. A.D. Penner park is located on Park Road East. It includes five ball diamonds, soccer fields, a football field, playground, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits and a picnic shelter.

L.A. Barkman Park is located at Giesbrecht Street and Woodlawn Avenue. A lovely, treed park with a walking and cycling path and small picnic shelter. It’s a great place to spend a winter day tobogganing! This picturesque park bursts with spectacular floral displays - a perfect backdrop for summer weddings. The focal feature is a circular raised timber frame gazebo. E.A. Friesen Park is located on Elmdale Street, next to the Jake Epp Library. A picnic shelter, volleyball court and playground equipment are available to the public. During the winter months the Steinbach Curling Club offers four sheets of artificial ice for those looking to polish up their curling game. Numerous curling leagues and bonspiels keep the curling club a busy place during the cold, winter months! The Steinbach Arts Council is your community Recreation Centre where over 800 people per week, from

Located in the heart of the city, over 60 programs in various arts and wellness programs serve the community. The Hall Gallery is located in this Centre, and features monthly art exhibits by local and guest artists. The Arts Council also presents a Concert Series throughout the season, a KR Barkman Concerts in the Park series, Family shows, and Young Artists in Concert which features emerging artists. They also are proud to oversee the Visual and Performing Artists who fill the Main Stage at the Summer in the City downtown street festival. New to Steinbach is the Southeast Event Centre. This large Centre offers Steinbachers concerts, MJHL games, catering and party rentals and so much more!

Steinbach’s Heritage Walkway, so named on September 5, 2000, stretches along Elmdale Street from Highway 12 to Hespeler Street. The Heritage Walkway follows the Stony Brook, where the founding families settled originally. The windmill on display at the Mennonite Heritage Village is a replica of an original Dutch windmill built in 1877. It was originally used to process flour and feed and to cut lumber. Did You Know?
